Trust Administration FAQ

How long does trust administration take?

Usually 6 to 12 months. Sometimes longer with complications (disputes, illiquid assets, business interests). We give you a timeline in the first meeting.

How much does it cost?

Costs vary by complexity. Simple trusts $3,500-$7,500. Moderate $7,500-$15,000. Complex are hourly or custom. We discuss costs upfront.

Do I have to do anything?

You’ll gather documents and sign paperwork. But we handle the heavy lifting—tax returns, distributions, accounting, communication.

What if beneficiaries are fighting?

Conflict is normal. We help mediate, keep the process professional, and resolve disputes before they become legal issues.

What if the trust is unfunded?

Some assets weren’t put in the trust. We identify this early and handle those assets through probate if needed.

What if someone is on SSI or Medicaid?

Special rules apply. We ensure distributions don’t cause them to lose government benefits. Requires careful planning.

What if there’s a business interest?

We coordinate with business advisors and accountants. Business valuations are complex. We get it done right.

Can you represent a beneficiary suing the trustee?

Yes. If a trustee is breaching their duty, we can represent the beneficiary. But we recommend trying to resolve disputes first.
