A message from Dustin MacFarlane
I Am Not Letting This Happen Again.
This year, a client hired me to complete her estate plan. Just like thousands of clients before her. I laid out the process, gathered the information, designed a plan, drafted the documents, scheduled the review meeting and the signing appointment.
She was a busy professional. And she died before she could sign.
I didn't go slow. She died three weeks after hiring me — one week away from having everything finalized.
None of us saw it coming. Not me. Not the client. Not the family. No one thought she didn't have four more weeks. We were all fine with four weeks. But it was too long.
Here's What Happened Next.
The family is fighting. In court. In two states. They have all hired lawyers. They will be in court for years. Depositions. Motions. Hearings.
The person who was supposed to inherit everything, including the home her father purchased for her, the home where she is raising her family. That home will be sold and divided.
She will be forced to start over. Her children will change schools. All because someone died unexpectedly without a signed estate plan.
The lawyers win. The family, win or lose, they lose. They pay a financial toll. An emotional toll. In some cases, they lose everything.
One week. That's all it would have taken.
Here's How Fast This Can Go.
Recently, a man called my office. He was getting on a plane in three days — vacation to Asia. He wanted an estate plan. Fast.
So that's what we did. Gathered the information. Prepared the drafts. Reviewed everything together. Signed.
Less than 24 hours. Start to finish. He boarded that plane ready.

Still the Same Certified Specialist
Fast Doesn't Mean Cutting Corners
Express service doesn't mean a junior associate or a template. Every plan, regardless of tier, is prepared by Dustin MacFarlane, California State Bar Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law.
Fewer than 1% of California attorneys hold this certification. Documents drafted correctly, reviewed by an attorney, executed under California law.
The only thing that changes is the timeline. Not the quality. Not the attorney.
Common Questions
How does the phone or Zoom consultation work?
You call or we schedule a Zoom. We go through your family situation, assets, and goals — typically 30–45 minutes. That's all we need to draft your documents. You don't come to our office for the consultation.
What documents are included?
Depends on what you need. A trust-based plan includes: revocable living trust, pour-over will, durable power of attorney for finances, advance healthcare directive, and HIPAA authorization. A will-based plan includes: last will and testament, durable power of attorney, and advance healthcare directive. Complex plans — irrevocable trusts, Medi-Cal planning, business succession — are also available on an expedited basis. Tell us what you need on the first call.
What does the mobile notary service cost?
Mobile notary fees are set by the notary and are separate from our legal fees. Fees vary by location and time of day. We can provide referrals to reputable Sacramento-area mobile notaries and help coordinate.
Can I sign at your Granite Bay office?
Absolutely. If coming to 6957 Douglas Blvd in Granite Bay is convenient, in-office signing is always available during business hours at no extra charge.
What if my plan is complex?
We'll tell you exactly what we can do and how fast on the first call. We can move faster than any traditional timeline on almost anything. The one thing we won't do is sacrifice quality for speed.
Is the quality the same as your standard service?
Yes. Dustin drafts every document. The legal content is the same — we're compressing the timeline, not the care.
What if I need changes after signing?
Trust amendments and will codicils are available at a flat fee. We also offer an annual review service for clients who want ongoing updates as their life changes.
Stop Putting It Off.
Your family doesn't need a perfect plan. They need a plan that exists. Call now and we can start today.
